💙 Luca’s Rescue Spotlight: Meet Duke🐾

Meet Duke — a strong, complex, and deeply deserving boy who is on a journey toward healing. 💙

Duke is currently in professional training and rehabilitation, where the focus is on helping him feel safe, build confidence, and learn how to navigate the world in a healthy way. His past hasn’t been easy, and like many dogs in rescue, he’s still learning what trust looks like.

The team working with Duke has been open and honest about his needs — and that’s what gives him the best chance at a successful future. He’s not ready for adoption just yet, but he is surrounded by people who are fully committed to doing right by him.

Right now, Duke is working closely with professionals to:
✔️ Build confidence
✔️ Learn appropriate responses
✔️ Establish safe boundaries
✔️ Decompress and feel secure

He is also being carefully monitored to ensure his medical needs are fully understood and addressed.

The good news:
🐾 His happy tail has healed beautifully
🐾 Once his health is fully sorted, he’s expected to begin gaining needed weight

Like many dogs processing stress, Duke recently destroyed his bed — a reminder of just how important it is for him to have a safe, supportive space of his own.

This is the hard part of rescue — the part where things slow down, where patience matters most, and where the goal isn’t fast… it’s right.

From our home in Maine to the hands of dedicated rescuers, Luca’s legacy is continuing to make a difference for dogs like Duke.

💙 Meet Addy: Luca’s First Rescue Spotlight 🐾

🐾 Meet Addy (aka Moose)

📍 Currently in Foster — Vermont

Addy is a gentle, resilient girl whose new life is just beginning.

After coming from a place we can only imagine, she was taken in by an elderly woman who helped bring her back to a healthy weight and gave her love and stability. For a while, Addy had a safe, quiet life — but as she grew, her size became too much for her aging caregiver. When Addy began accidentally knocking her over, the woman’s granddaughter stepped in, saw the situation, and reached out for help.

That’s when we met Addy — covered in fleas, unfixed, and possibly pregnant after living in a home with four unneutered males. She is estimated to be between the ages of 2 - 4.

Despite her past, Addy is nothing but sweet. She’s now in a safe foster home here in Vermont, enjoying the comfort of a bath, good food, and compassionate care.

We’re currently on pregnancy watch, but no matter what, this girl has a village behind her. Her journey is just beginning — and we're honored to help sponsor her through Lunging Luca’s Rescue Fund.
